Here's Jacques' interview in full

Jacques, welcome to Stunning Men and a big thank you for taking the time to do the interview. You currently live in Pretoria,  South Africa ...

I was born and raised in the beautiful city Cape Town and moved up to Pretoria two years ago. I’ve always been a very active person and played rugby most of the time representing WP/U18, WP/U21 and also played WP Sevens.

First thing first ... how did you get into modelling?

My journey started four years ago when I decided to make a positive difference in my own life by stepping out of my comfort zone, taking on new opportunities, believing in myself and following that dream of living a life of success and through that whole process to stay humble and true to myself, morals and values!

Injuries forced me to stop playing rugby in 2010 and from there onwards i focused completely on the fitness industry. Entered my first show and it was all history from there onwards. I’m proud to say that I’m a Brand Ambassador for USN and 15 other brands.

What do you think is the most fulfilling thing about modelling?
I think it’s all about stepping out of your comfort zone, use it as a platform to network, travel the world and gaining confidence and believing in your own uniqueness.

How comfortable are you in showing off your physique in a shoot?
I’m very confident as long as its still classy and done with the right mindset. I respect myself so won’t do anything explicit.

Which other fitness model would you like to do a shoot with given the opportunity?

Since the beginning of my fitness journey I really looked up to Greg Plitt. He is an icon in the Fitness / Movie industry and a HUGE inspirational factor to me.

It would be an honour for me to be able to do a Fitness shoot with him.

You are looking fantastic. How on earth did you get into such shape?

Thanks for the compliment. It’s all about consistency and living a healthy balanced lifestyle. It’s not a short term goal to be in shape, it’s a lifetime goal for me. I’ve always played sport and been an active person.

When did your passion for fitness start?
In 2010 I did my first Fitness competition.

What keeps you determined and driven to work out?
The will to succeed. Challenging myself on a daily basis to improve. A Firm believer that a healthy body is a healthy mind. USN plays a BIG part in making me realise on a daily basis what and honour and privilege it is to be an ambassador for such an amazing big supplement company and I feel its my responsibility to make sure I look the part in representing the brand to the best of my ability.

Saturday & Sunday Rest ( Or  train what you want)

And what’s the best form of cardio for you?
I do 2-3 days a week in the morning on empty stomach for 40 mins - 20 mins treadmill, 10 mins stepper and 10 mins cycle high intensity.

You stand for discipline, dedication and determination. What does these values mean to you? What is your philosophy in life?

I’ve always been a person who gives my all when I put my mind to something. I am blessed to have come to understand the vital secret – that nothing good comes easy and that, to be successful in anything, I need to apply the 3 D’s in my life in all aspects

DISCIPLINE. DEDICATION. DETERMINATION.

My focus is to pursue the things that lie at the core of who we are as human beings: Love, Respect, Loyalty, Integrity, Trust and Gratitude.

Now a few quick fun questions if we may? Do you think you are a good date?
For sure! (Jacques laughs out loud)

Do you have any other passions besides fitness?
I love reading inspirational and biographies of successful people.

What can’t you live without?
Mmmm … cellphone and my food! (Jacques laughs)

Could you finish these two sentences for us? You wouldn’t know, but I’m very good at …
… setting goals for myself.

Now ... I’m just not very good at …

 … golf.

One last question Jacques, what is your big dream?
To stand on a world stage, sharing my life story and knowing that my life story will inspire the mass. On a more personal note, I would love to be the ultimate husband for my wife and a great role model for my children.

Jacques, it has been a real pleasure to interview you! Thank you for your time and for being such good sport. All the best for the future.
