Here's Pheonix' interview il full
Pheonix, welcome to Stunning Men and a big thank you for taking the time to do the interview.
Could we start off with talking a little about yourself and your background? You live in and are from San Francisco, California ... lucky you! Brings back memories ...
As far as living in San Fran it’s not really where I’m from, but more where I want to end up.
How did you get into modelling?
Well modelling has been a recent development for me; I started when I was just 18 and dabbled a little without really getting anywhere, without any real work. It was one of my employees that started doing photography at university and suggested I take up modelling. For which I did and did a few small events and posters for local companies. Then since I wasn’t getting the most work I decided to pursue a career as a chef. Fast rising through the ranks I became the executive chef of the restaurant. After studying to be a chef I was well equipped to be eating right and knowing what to eat and what not to eat. Recently a friend of mine was looking through my old photos on Facebook and told me that I have talent and encouraged me to get back into it again. After she had successfully convinced me, I went to work and found CSA modelling agency. I was welcomed and helped find my feet, and work started coming my way.
What do you enjoy the most about it?
Well interestingly I would have to say the clothing. For shoots I have worked in I have learnt a lot about how to style, and how best to present myself. Although having a lot of other hot guys around is always a plus in my eyes.
How do you prepare before a photoshoot?
Well before a shoot I like to go to the gym and fit in a quick work out, just to get pumped up. Gym helps me focus more plus getting pumped up looks great in photos as it shows the muscles and veins more clearly.
You have a great physique. How do you keep in shape and healthy? Do you practise any sport?
I have studied food for 4 years at tafe, which has given me an advantage of knowing the different types of foods and what to avoid. I stay in shape with a routine of heading to the gym 5-7 times per week for weight training, as well about 5 hours of cardio per week. Sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle to get through it as I work a full time job that takes up 50 hours per week. But you only get out what you put in, so worth the extra mile.
What are your top three favourite gym exercises and why?
Well hammers has got to be the top, just love how they rip up the bids
Next would have to be the overhead pull for the tris, they are a struggle at the end of the work out for the night but totally worth the effort.
Lastly one of my three top favs is the good old chin up bar. When I first started doing these it killed me for about a week, it is now one of my faves. I'm a bit of a sucker for muscled backs (Phoenix laughs).
What’s the best form of cardio for you?
The best cardio I have found and enjoy the most would have to be rollerblading; it’s a good all over work out. It really helps your core to balance while you’re doing the cardio. As well as being heaps of fun.
How do you keep motivated?
Well one of the main things that helps me going is competing with the other boys. Being a very competitive person really is an advantage sometimes.
How do you fit training and fitness into your life? Is it a difficult thing to achieve?
I don’t think it’s easy to fit in; the main thing to remember is stick to a routine. Plan your week out with the essentials such as work, gym and cardio. Then plan your social life around that. The best advice I can give people would be to make sure you plan in sleep as without sleep you can’t repair your body fast enough.
You are a very good looking guy – what do you think is your best asset?
If I had to pick a good aspect about myself it would have to be my eyes. For me eyes are a big thing about what attracts me to another person, and are the first thing I look at when I meet someone or see their pictures.
And if you could change one thing about your body, what would that be?
I would totally change my metabolism to be about 10 times faster so I could eat all the junk food I like and not have to worry about stacking on the kgs. Other than that everything such as mass size and height I’m pretty happy with at the moment.
How do you approach a challenge?
When I’m faced with a challenge I generally assess the situation into two categories. Things I can do something about and things I can’t. Then from there I plan out the different outcomes for each action. Then after I have a firm grasp on the facts I’ll make an action plan and put it to work.
What do you do in your down time?
Ok sad as it is I go shopping or go swimming at the beach.
Nothing sad about that ... first buy a pair of cool speedos, then strut your stuff at the beach ... Now, do you have any role models? People who inspire you?
Yes I do, he is one of the other models from csa Lucas. Before I started back into it I knew that he was a member of csa and I had seen his photos. I adored his look and inspired me to get in shape.
Now a few quick fun questions if we may? Do you think you are a good date?
(more laughs) well that depends. I haven’t really ever been on many dates, but the ones I have been on I have paid for dinner and I have taken them to expensive restaurants. But sadly in my world dates are hard to come by. (Phoenix, you pick the day and time and I’ll be there!)
What do you think is the secret to a good relationship?
Well if I knew that I wouldn’t be single. But if I had to look for someone it would be mutual respect for each other as well as having our differences; if things are placed all the time the relationship won’t last from my experiences anyway. Plus make up sex is great.
Are you a brief man or a boxer kinda guy?
I’m definitely a briefs kinda guy. Support is always a good thing plus they keep things hidden when you don’t want it to be seen.
What do you listen to on your iPod?
My iPod is a mix really from piano to pop to RNB and of course dance.
Your favourite song/piece of music to play while training/running?
It would have to be fast RNB music.
What kind of movies do you like?
What can’t you live without?
Hmmm ummm would sex be a good answer? Failing that I would have to say the internet.
You wouldn’t know, but I’m very good at ...
Particle physics.
I’m just not very good at ...
Choosing the right partner... and saying no when friends need me.
What’s the best thing ever invented?
Large hardon collider between the borders of Franco-Swiss, near Geneva.
What three words describe you best?
Witty, logical, and busy.
One last question Pheonix, where do you see yourself and what would you like to be doing in 10 years time?
Failing becoming a CK model, I would like to finish studying a masters of physics and working either as a theoretical partial physicist or as a nuclear physicist not sure what path I want to follow yet.
Pheonix, it really has been a great pleasure to interview you! Thank you for your time and for being a good sport. All the best for the future! And let me know about the date!
